Little Company of Mary offers around-the-clock clinical pharmacy services for our inpatient population, as well as prescription-filling services as a convenience for our patients being discharged. A pharmacist is on duty 24 hours a day to screen and review inpatient medications and counsel inpatients and those being discharged on topics regarding their drug therapies, including:

• Drug interactions with other prescription and over-the-counter medications,
as well as food and drink
• Adverse and allergic drug reactions
• Cost management
• Compliance issues

Patient Medication Information sheets are also distributed with each new prescription, providing detailed information regarding medications, including how the drug works, possible side effects and other drugs, food and drinks to avoid while taking the prescription.

Understanding prescriptions and over-the-counter medications is the key to safe, effective and appropriate use. Recognizing this, and in keeping with our mission, Little Company of Mary strives to offer education for the community regarding pharmaceutical care. Our physicians and pharmacists provide lectures and programs on the many aspects of pharmaceutical care. In addition we offer:

Ask Your Pharmacist

Pharmacists participate in local health fairs and events by furnishing a booth that provides one-on-one question and answer sessions, along with providing information about the latest drug therapies available for treating specific diseases and topics of general interest.

Rx For Health: Pharmacy Care Program

This collaboration with Little Company of Mary’s Friends and Neighbors program was designed with the needs of older adults in mind. The program is offered through the Sister Nancy Boyle Community Resource Center at Little Company of Mary Hospital and other convenient locations and includes a free, pocket-sized “Passport to Good Health.”

This personal medication record, developed by the Medication Education Program of Behavioral Health Services, Inc., is helpful when you visit your physician, pharmacist or other health care provider. It has space for recording additional health-related information, which can prove helpful in emergency situations.
