Something exciting is happening in your family! You will soon have a baby
brother or sister. We have provided the following activities to help you get ready
to be a big brother or sister.
While Mom and Dad are researching the web site for answers to their many questions
about having a new baby, you can enjoy some fun activities, too! It can be as simple
as printing the coloring pages for a coloring activity to making a welcome home sign
for the new baby.
Here are a few activities to help make an older child feel like an important
part of the family.
1. Make a special sign to put up on the day the baby comes home. You could draw
a picture of your family on the sign and write, Welcome to our
Family
2. Make a sign that says, SHHHHHHHHH-Baby is Sleeping! Use cardboard or poster board
and decorate the sign. Put the sign in a place so that when people visit they can see
and be sure not to wake the new baby.
3. Stitch, paint or color a picture for the babys room. Before you frame it, sign
your name and the date, then hang your gift in the babys room.
4. Once the baby is born make a special announcement to give to your friends in the
neighborhood. Start with a paper plate and draw a face with a color marker.
Add a pink hair bow for a girl and a blue bow tie for the boy. The write the name,
date and weight of your new brother or sister.
5. Print coloring pages.
